Silica
Silica is an integral part of many animal tissues like arteries, tendons, skin, hair, connective tissue, bone, collagen, cartilage and eyes (cornea and white of the eye.)
To improve our silica levels, you can find silica in celery, horsetail tea, oats, rice, dark greens, kelp, comfrey, nettle and alfalfa. Remember that processed foods lose their silica content dramatically. Another thing to note is that we lose silica with perspiration, night sweats, fevers or sweating. The strange thing is that by taking silica you can help reduce profuse perspiration issues which depletes your Silica.
Here at the clinic our naturopaths often suggest Silica for anything from hair growth, nails, skin health, scar tissue, bone injury, osteopenia/osteoporosis, cardiovascular health/arteriosclerosis, sciatica, rheumatoid arthritis/ osteoarthritis, pregnancy, nervous system, perspiration issues, sinusitis and muscular skeletal pain.
When talking bone health Silicea is one of the main nutrients we look at along with Calcium, Vit K2, Collagen, Manganese, Boron, Quercetin and Vit D. We help design the right recipe and right dose for your individual case.
Silica can be prescribed in capsules, colloidal, celloids, herbs, herbal tea, juices, foods and homeopathics.
