PEA
I would like to introduce to you an exciting new pain management called PEA.
PEA is NOT a green vegetable in this case.
PEA stands for Palmitoylethanolamide. It is an endogenously produced cannabimimetic compound, which simply said is a substance that has similar pharmacological effects to those of cannabis. This is incredible. Its effects are analgesic, anti- inflammatory and neuroprotective. Here at the clinic we have it in powder and liquid form and it is sourced from sustainable palm oil.
The dosage used is between 300-1200mg per day. As it is a fat soluble compound, consumption with a meal containing fat may enhance absorption. There are no known contri-indications. It has been studied across a broad population and has been found to be highly tolerable.
It is a new product and the results already have been amazing.
I love how it helps with neurological pain, fibromyalgia, peripheral neuropathy, lower back pain, prolapse disc pain, osteoarthritis, depression, autism, chronic pain and interestingly colds and/or flu.
One of the questions I am asked, is how long it takes to work? I have seen very quick results within a week however studies show that the maximum benefit can be seen at 8-12 weeks. Most people only use it til pain is managed however long term use of this is safe. As a practitioner I am excited about its function and results and love how safely it can be combined with pharmaceutical medicines. Better still if the pain is helped with PEA then the orthodox pain management can be lowered which then lowers the toxic load to the body.
