Histamine
Histamine
My motivation for an article on Histamine is because the effect of covid and spike proteins observed on histamine levels.
There seems to be a heightened histamine triggered when you have covid, after having covid and after the covid vaccines. It has been and is observed on a clinical level that people prone to higher histamine or even worse MCAS (Mast Cell Activation Syndrome) or MCAD (Mast Cell Activation Disorder) that the cytokine storm and vascular symptoms and brain fog symptoms appear to be worse post covid or vaccines.
If the histamine level is managed around the time of spike protein exposure the chances of long covid and severity seem to be better managed. Wheras people prone to higher histamine levels seem to have more of a chance of long covid or worse reaction to the infection at the time. It is observed that people with long covid symptoms are worse when histamine levels are higher.
Histamine intolerance is not a sensitivity to histamine, but an indication that you’ve developed too much of it. In the right amount it is all good but too much is when problems start.
What is noticed is people that have not been allergenic are suddenly reacting to so many more substances – internally and externally after exposure to spike proteins be it covid or covid vaccines.
Histamine is a chemical responsible for a few major functions:
- histamine communicates messages to your brain
- histamine triggers release of stomach acid to aid digestion
- histamine is released after injury or allergic reaction as part of your immune response
Symptoms of higher histamine usually:
- headaches or migraine
- nasal congestion or sinus issues
- fatigue
- hives
- digestive issues – nausea, vomiting, bloating
- irregular menstrual cycle
- brain fog
*** In more severe cases of histamine intolerance, you may experience:
- abdominal cramping
- tissue swelling
- blood pressure issues
- irregular heart rate
- anxiety
- difficulty regulating body temperature
- dizziness
When we naturally produce histamine, it is along with the enzyme diamine oxidase (DAO). DAO is responsible for breaking down histamine that you take in from foods. If you develop a DAO deficiency and are unable to break down histamine, you could develop an intolerance. Therefor is it too much histamine production or too little DAO or both.
Some reasons your DAO enzyme levels could be affected include:
- medications that block DAO functions or prevent production – antibiotics, antidepressants, antiarrhythmics, antihypertensives and local anaesthesia
- gastrointestinal disorders – bacteria or inflammation in the microbiome of the gut
- histamine-rich foods that cause DAO enzymes to function improperly
- foods that block DAO enzymes or trigger histamine release
From a proactive perspective histamine needs to stay lower if exposure to covid, covid vaccines or experiencing long covid symptoms.
WHAT CAN YOU DO:
1.Avoid higher Histamine foods and drinks
HISTAMINE RICH FOODS
- Fermented Alcohol, fermented foods: sauerkraut, vinegar, soy sauce, kefir, yogurt, kombucha etc
- Vinegar containing foods: pickle, mayonnaise, olives
- Cured meats: bacon, salami, pepperoni, luncheon meats and hot dogs
- Soured foods: sour cream and sour milk, buttermilk, soured breads
- Dried fruits: apricots, prunes, dates, figs, raisins,
- Citrus fruit
- Aged cheese including goat’s cheese
- Nuts: walnut, cashews and peanuts
- Vegetables: avocado, eggplant, spinach and tomato
- Smoked fish and mackerel, mahi- mahi, tuna, anchovies, sardines
HISTAMINE – Releasing Foods – Foods that trigger your body to produce histamine
- Most Alcohol – safest ones are vodka, gin and rum
- Banana
- Chocolate
- Cow’s milk
- Nuts
- Papaya
- Pineapple
- Shellfish
- Strawberries
- Tomato
- Wheatgerm
- Artificial preservatives and dyes
2.Use antihistamine nutrients
- Quercetin
- Perilla seed
- Nigella seed
- Nettle
- Turmeric
- DAO
- Histidine
3. Maybe use antihistamines
4. Keep stress levels low
5. Get early nights and good quality sleep
6. Detoxification
- dietary and lifestyle changes
- nettle tea or pine needle tea or fennel tea.
- NAC or VegeNAC
- Chlorella
- Glutathione and B2
- SAMe(s-adenosylmethonine) - SAMe is a mood up lifter and a detoxification. Interestingly elevated levels of histamine in the body use up a lot of SAMe.
7. Exercise and Fresh Air.
Remember Histamine is not bad in the right proportion and is an important part of our immune reaction. Good health is when things come into perfect balance.
