Happiness to You
One of Possum Hollow's special clients has just done an assignment on happiness and asked me if any of my clients from various ages could talk about what happiness means to them. Here are some of the answers so maybe you can think about what happiness means to you. We have used different names for confidentiality.
I asked my son to draw a picture of what happiness means to him and this is the picture he drew.

What is happiness to me?
I feel happiness is being at peace with one's self. Accepting that there are no mistakes. We are doing what we came here to do. Looking on the bright side of life. Happiness is being able to go with the flow of one's life.

Happiness is loving being with my family.

Happiness and love are the same to me.
"I'm successful if I'm in a state of love, able to love.
Therefore love to me is a sense of peace, happiness and joy."

It is said that happiness lies alongside unhappiness deep in our psyche. It is said that if you take a bitter resentful unhappy man from an impoverished environment and put him in the most salubrious life with everything that he could desire, he would be happy for a short time, and then he would revert to being the grumpy unhappy man that is his natural temperament.
On the other hand you can take a really happy, joyful, contented man from his luxurious environment and put him in a life of impoverishment, and he will be unhappy for a short time, but will revert to his happy disposition because that is his nature.
So is it our natural temperament ... Or is it something we can choose ... Or does it depend on our circumstances in life?
Happiness for me personally is a deep, warm, contented feeling. I believe from experience that it cannot truly exist if there is conflict in my life that has not been resolved. And of course that isn't always easy. The classic code to help through such conflict is .. God, give me the strength to accept the things I cannot change, the courage to change the things I can, and the wisdom to know the difference .......
I know great happiness at this stage of my life. I look back at my personal achievements, and the joy of making my dreams come true. Always there are lessons to be learned, but that is part of the wisdom that comes on the journey.
Happiness is felt when my body feels comfortable with itself, when I think of the unconditional love that I feel for my grandchildren, when I look into their eyes, listen to their voices, feel the depth of their hugs, and the touch of their hands in mine, and most of all their laughter and how they make me laugh too.
Happiness can only be felt in the present moment, so perhaps fit becomes so much more so in the winter of our lives, when one is content to go a bit more slowly and be with the feeling.
For me personally I am so happy when I sing, when I am teaching others, when I draw, in the midst of a good read, and watching a great movie.
If health is on your side, happiness is well and truly there. We have only to look inside.
Love, light and laughter,

What is happiness to me?
Happiness is a when all fear has gone and you can take pleasure in knowing life is about everything being simple and uncomplicated, with no boundaries.
Antony - 50s
Happiness to me is a state of mind and being.
Marlie - 40s
Happiness to me is ---
When I feel like smiling and that smile feels like it is shining from my inside - from my body but also my wholebeing and soul.
This happens when I feel well and energised in my mind, body and soul. It is when my intuition is firing and I truly love to be alive.
Things that enhance this for me
- when people around me are happy
- feeling alive and healthy.
- when i laugh - i mean truly laugh
- having family time and feeling contented as a parent and wife
- good music, drama, movies - the ones that move my soul
- water skiiing on glass water on a sunny morning
- giving love but feeling love from family and friends
- exercising in fresh air and being with nature.
