Chlorella - a super food and supplement
I cannot speak highly enough about chlorella and its uses are so vast and the results are incredible. Chlorella is a single celled photosynthetic freshwater algae, and we get it to the clinic from pristine environments: Gluten free, vegan, chemical free, pollution free and pesticide free. Not only that, the farming of Chlorella is very sustainable due to what is known as the CGF – Chlorella growth factor.
What is it about this food /supplement that is so exciting? It is considered one of the most nutrient dense foods on the earth. It contains omega 3,6,9, vitamins (like A, B, D, B12, Folate, K, C), minerals (like iron, zinc, magnesium, phosphorus, selenium- yet low in copper) antioxidants, beta- carotene, carotenoids (lutein and zeaxanthin), pepsin the enzyme and proteins that work together to improve your health in so many ways. Some would say it is like a multivitamin but perhaps better. It aids detoxification and has great effects on gut lining and absorption.

- Eye health - eye fatigue, cataracts, vision loss, eye strain and age-related macular degeneration.

SCFA help the integrity of the tight junction protein structures that hold the gut lining together and improve the gut blood barrier. It has prebiotic fibre and omega 3 fatty acids. Lastly, with the gut it has the detoxification action.
- Anaemia – it has a naturally occurring bioavailability of iron. It is also vegan so one way of helping lift iron for vegetarians too.
- Enhancing aerobic endurance – chlorella helps improve oxygen reuptake so great for aerobic exercise and recovery.
- Cholesterol – further studies will enlighten us more on the good effects Chlorella may have on cholesterol. It helps blood pressure and circulation generally.
